Went from wearing jeans to wearing sweats because I couldn’t fit into the jeans and just now back in my jeans all in one year. Soooooo glad no one was around to take pictures LOL.

I think it depends on what can of changes we are making………physically or emotionally.
The greatest changes I believe are emotional. I don’t change much physically in a year.
But a few years ago (2001) when I lost 5 loved one’s in a period of three months, including my husband, my sister in law, my mother and two dear friends the changes are great.

My photographer sister-in-law tried to convince me to take a picture of my children every day, to do this same thing. I was convinced, but not convicted enough to be consistent.

It took a more than a few years to see how much I had changed in looks, I change every twenty years. Emotionally I am the same.

Our bodies contantly change in subtle ways. I used to be fearful of wrinkles and a few pounds just showing up. I have countless photos from over the years; I used to look at them saying “what the h_ll were you thinking”! But I’ve come to appreciate the changes, as they mark events and milestones of my existance.

Making changes with hairstyles, make-up, clothes and the like are tools. These changes don’t define you as a person. If they did, I would be a different person each day of the week! I dress for the day’s need. My mind knows who I am and couldn’t give a hoot as to what others percieve based on my appearance.

I like who I am and what I look like…..I’ve earned ever bit of it!

My face and my body love to change. Lately, my body is on some sort of roller coaster… up a few pounds…down a few pounds. Myasthenia Gravis has made my face take on a more serious look. None of this is to my liking but as shells go, I love mine. It houses a playful spirit that loves to explore, create, paint, feel…

I’m still that little girl who sold art on the streets of Chicago in the 60’s. I’m still that little girl who thought Carol Burnett walked on water (she does doesn’t she?). This aging shell still stops at every lilac bush to smell the flowers. With age has come opportunity after opportunity to deepen my roots (note I did not say color my roots) and stretch out my branches. My bark may have scars, each earned and honored, signifying growth. Thank god our bodies change to house that ever growing spirit inside.

LOL! Frannie- I first read your post to say “butt” end up looking younger. That would be a whole different kind of her tube video.

Love the poetic tree analogy Josie :)

I concur with Nora, and other humorous gallant gals that the greatest personal advancement of the twentieth century was really terrific hair dyes. Just as I would not distract the world by judging my slightly sagging knee caps, I choose to not reveal my ever-spreading temple grays, shallow as it seems.
